Who We Are
Universal Shower Base is a proudly Australian-owned, family-run company. Founded in 1992 by Richard Lowery in a farm shed in Tooradin, Victoria, today we design and manufacture all our one-piece fibreglass shower trays in Melbourne (Dandenong South). With over 20 years of experience, we focus on making reliable, easy-to-install bases that last. Our Aussie team knows tradespeople need practical solutions – our one-piece bases include the correct fall and outlet so a shower floor can be tiled in hours instead of days.

Prefabricated (preformed) shower bases – One-piece fibreglass trays with built-in fall and waste outlet (centre or rear). Available in 10 standard sizes, they create a fully waterproof bathroom base ready for tiling and dramatically reduce install time – each tray can be laid in a morning, making it a truly easy-install shower base.

Channel Grate (linear drain) bases – Low-profile tile-in bases with integrated channel (linear) drains (13 standard sizes). These sleek trays suit tiled showers and include stainless grate covers, providing a modern linear drainage solution.

Shower niches & waste outlets – Durable tile-over niches for built-in storage and matching waste outlet kits (plain lids, slotted, tile-insert, twist-top, etc.). Buying all components from Universal means they fit perfectly together.

Custom & Eco-friendly options – If a job needs a special size, our Custom Tray Designer can make any dimension. We also offer ECO shower trays made from 100% recycled PET plastic: each 900×900mm ECO base reuses about 226 plastic bottles, combining strength with sustainability.

Our products are engineered to suit Australian bathrooms and building codes. Every base supports tile or vinyl floors and is manufactured with the recommended fall ratio. We continually refine our production so each tray meets or exceeds NCC/BCA waterproofing standards. Operating out of Melbourne’s Dandenong South, Universal Shower Base distributes nationwide – our trays are stocked by all major plumbing and bathroom retailers across Australia. In short, Aussie builders and renovators get a ready-made, watertight shower base that cuts down labour and delivers consistent, hassle-free installs.
Certified Quality
Quality and compliance are central to our brand. All Universal bases meet strict Australian standards – they comply with AS 3740-2010 (waterproofing) and AS 3588-1996 (shower trays) requirements – and our shower outlets are WaterMark-licensed (AS 3500.5). In fact, our products are “built to the highest quality” and “meet Australian standards”. We follow ISO 9001-based quality systems and even earned design awards for our channel drain bases, but most importantly we back every product with a limited 7-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
