Choosing the Right System
- Undertile Mats (150 W/m²) — Self-adhesive mesh, 3.5mm thick. Roll out and tile over. Best for regular-shaped rooms and renovations.
- Loose Wire Cables — Adjustable spacing (40–110mm). Best for irregular rooms and tight spaces with lots of fixtures.
- In-Screed Cables (200 W/m²) — Embedded in 20–50mm screed. Best for bathrooms, high heat-loss areas, and polished concrete.
- In-Slab Cables — Embedded in concrete slab during new builds. Creates energy-efficient thermal mass.

Common Questions
Mat or loose cable? — Mats are faster to install in regular-shaped rooms. Loose cables suit irregular layouts and tight spaces. Choose mats for speed, cables for flexibility.
150 W/m² or 200 W/m²? — 150 W/m² for living areas and well-insulated bathrooms. 200 W/m² for bathrooms on concrete slabs, wet rooms, and poorly insulated spaces.
In-screed or in-slab? — In-screed cables embed in a screed layer over an existing slab (renovations). In-slab cables are fixed before the concrete pour (new builds).
Can I install it myself? — Anyone can lay the mats and cables. A licensed electrician must connect the thermostat and power supply (AS/NZS 3000). Test cable resistance before and after tiling.
Works under timber or vinyl? — Yes. Thermofoil is designed for floating timber, vinyl, and carpet at just 2.5mm thick.
