Mapesil LM – Neutral Silicone Sealant for Natural Stone and Marble

Mapesil LM is a one-component, solvent-free, neutral-cure silicone sealant from Mapei with a low modulus of elasticity, developed for the safe sealing of stone, marble and ceramic tiles – including façades – without staining. Its neutral chemical nature avoids surface bleeding or the migration of oils, making it ideal for delicate surfaces and materials sensitive to acids and plasticising agents. It does not emit unpleasant odours, is supplied as a thixotropic paste that is easy to apply on vertical and horizontal surfaces, and cures at room temperature with the humidity in the air to form a flexible seal.

Where to Use

• Sealing expansion joints in natural stone, marble and agglomerate stone, including façades – no primer required on stone or marble
• Movement and expansion joints subject to movements up to 25% of the joint width, including those subject to high levels of movement
• Sanitary joints and damp environments – BioBlock® technology delays the formation of surface mould
• Sealing pipe-work and joints between similar and/or different types of material
• Bonds without primer to most building substrates: glass, ceramic, marble, aluminium, zinc-plated sheet metal, concrete, stainless steel and PVC (use Primer P on absorbent substrates and Primer A on non-absorbent substrates for prolonged immersion in water)
• Performs well in treated water typically found in swimming pools (preliminary testing recommended for permanent immersion)

Application, Consumption and Packaging

• Application: extrusion gun; finish the surface with a suitable damp tool before a skin forms
• Size joints so the sealant does not expand more than 25% of the initial joint width; use Mapefoam closed-cell polyethylene backing cord to set the joint depth
• Consumption: 3.1 linear metres per 310 ml cartridge (10x10 mm joint section)
• Packaging: 310 ml cartridges
